Abigail "Abi" Marie Brensel, soon to be 21 years old, of Waukesha, WI passed away unexpectedly on Monday, June 1, 2026, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, leaving a void in our lives that can never be filled, extending a legacy of joy and kindness

Abi chose to be an organ and tissue donor. Because of her final selfless gift, multiple lives have been saved and transformed.

Abi was a proud graduate of the Wisconsin School for the Deaf. She was currently attending the Waukesha Transition Academy and was eagerly looking forward to completing the program on June 11. With her vibrant personality and love for all things "girly"—especially makeup and doing her nails—Abi was excited about her next chapter: considering the Cosmetology Program at Waukesha County Technical College.

Abi loved expressing herself in art class, found peace and strength in equine therapy and enjoyed being part of a team in the Special Olympics. She enjoyed swimming, her beloved kitties, and felt a sense of belonging and connection spending time within the Deaf community. Abi and her mother found enjoyment in traveling and making memories. She got to go to several states, Florida being her favorite.

Summer vacations in Minocqua created wonderful memories with her grandparents and extended family. Additionally, she shared a very special bond with her grandmother, Aleda, and enjoyed going to favorite restaurants together.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 9th at 1:00 p.m. with a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. at the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ, 413 Wisconsin Avenue, Waukesha, WI. Burial will take place at a later date. Please join us to celebrate Abi's life and the impact she made on everyone who knew her.

Abi is survived by her mother, Ann Brensel, her dad Matt Brensel, grandmother Aleda Brensel and uncle Mason. Her uncle Tom and Erika Zakrzewski, cousins Owen and Elijah Zakrzewski and several other relatives and friends.

Abi was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents Ronald and Jane Zakrzewski, and paternal grandfather Edwin Brensel.
